Behavioral Health Medication Management and Counseling Services
The Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) is the behavioral health network for both Health Choice Arizona (AHCCCS) and Health Choice Generations (dual Eligible Medicare and Medicaid) members.
The multi-disciplinary approach that the RBHA providers under the Medicare behavioral health benefit includes outpatient psychiatric medication monitoring and counseling. Behavioral health case management, rehabilitation and housing assistance may also be available to this dual eligible population if behavioral health services are provided by the RBHA as a part of the AHCCCS behavioral health benefit.
While the RBHA is Health Choice Generations preferred behavioral health network, Primary Care Physicians, within the scope of their practice, may provide psychiatric medication monitoring for members. HC Generations requires that a standardized assessment tool or documentation of related questions must be used to determine diagnosis. Trial and failure of formulary choices must be documented before requesting non-formulary choices. Members must be re-evaluated at a minimum of every six (6) months to determine progress of medication treatment.
